While there we ate at this little restaurant in the town square that was pretty good. I had mushrooms and chicken (yummmm) and some fresh vegetables along with soup for a starter. It's always good when CEA covers the tab =)
After that we headed back up towards the castle and took a tour of it. I have some contraband pictures from inside posted at the end. Our tour guide was this eccentric old lady dressed in a red coat, with bright red hair, a hairband, a scarf, and bright pink lipstick, leading us with her red rose ("the symbol of Cesky Krumlov"). She was quite a treat! We had no idea what we were in for. We learned a lot about the castle though and got to see the bedrooms and bathrooms and dining rooms, of which there were more than a few. The castle also had many rugs of bears, which according to my guide book they never call by name but instead allude indirectly to with titles like "the big brown one." At one point I leaned over to pet the bear skin and accidentally spilt water on the bear and the floor. Whoops... guess you can say I added to the exhibit. Eventually we made our way to the ballroom which is painted in lovely scenes and there we were treated by our guide with a song. She burst forth randomly with her singing, startling us, but she was, surprisingly, pretty good.
After our tour of the castle we had some free time before we had to leave so we walked around dthe town some, looking for pretty picturesque things. They had some really good views of the river and some fun things around the town.
It was a lot cheaper than Prague because it's so small, but I don't think I could ever study abroad somewhere like it; it's too small, I don't know what I would do with myself!
But that was our short day in Cesky Krumlov. I think we spent about 5 hours there and then we came back. Krakow, Poland is up this weekend and I'm excited!!! Hope y'all have a wonderful week!
