Day 3: Trekking from Bondi to Coogee

And on the 3rd day we went to the beach. The Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach walk was highly recommended so we decided to check it out! We had to take the train to get to Bondi and thankfully there was a lovely chap working the information desk at the train station to help us get tickets and everything for the trip--he even helped us out by giving us a recommendation of a place to grab some coffee and cakes for our walk from the Bondi station to the beach, and it was an amazing suggestion!

We stopped at the recommended place, Wellington's or Welly's and got iced coffees and some pastries. I went for the tiramisu slice which had actual ice cream in between the layers (so delicious). This was also our first iced coffee experience where the ice coffee comes with ice and a scoop of gelato. This is apparently how it's done in Australia and I'm sad the US has not made it this far--get it together US coffee shops!

After that we went to Bondi, took tons of photos then began our walk! It was about a 3-4 mile trek and probably one of the most beautful walks I've ever taken. The color of the ocean is indescribable and the coastline just as phenomenal. It was so enjoyable we forgot to think about sunscreen (more on that later) and the heat. Eventually we made it to Coogee Beach so we set out our towels on the beach, soaked up some rays, and swam in the ocean--my second time in this water.

After a while, we were getting a little roasted from the sun so we sought out some shelter and found a cool little cafe along the boardwalk where we stopped for a drink before catching the bus back to the city. Then it was time to go to the airport, as our time in Sydney came to a close.

We began the train ride with some selfies because why not?

The first photo is for Larbear (if you're reading this)! Then our first views of the famous Bondi Beach

The life saving club building and the fabulous salt-water pool thats underneath it--talk about fancy.

Feet in the sand of Australia!

Seriously beautiful and blue water. I need to learn how to surf!

Selfie stick fun :)

The beaches are just gorgeous here

Overlooking Bondi from the rocks

A closer look at the awesome swimming pool that's filled from the waves

I don't remember all the beaches in between Bondi and Coogee but they're all equally phenomenal

I think this one may have been Bronte Beach?

Shadows as the sun beats down on us

Probably my favorite sequence of photos for the day. We convinced Daniel to do some glamour shots!

Then of course the rest of us had to take some as well. And this is clearly pre-tan/sunburn. I'm so Seattle pale!

Brooke's turn to look fab on the rocks.

Selfie stick is literally the best investment ever for group photos

Artistic? Or mistaken photo?

I know it's a lot of ocean photos but it's SO PRETTY!

Not sure which beach this was either, but I do know it's not Coogee. We still had quite the walk ahead of us.

Rubbish bin with a cemetary. I'm sure there's some hidden symbolism in that.

Was kind of odd to stumble upon a cemetary along the walk but I guess it's a beautiful place to be laid to rest.

Tired of my beach pictures yet?

Artsy bike photo juxtaposed along the beachside. And yet another wonderful beach.

This one had boats! But we didn't try them out. We were too excited because Coogee was around the bend and we were sweat-sweat-sweaty.

Our first views of Coogee Beach, our final destination for the day! Daniel stole my hat to protect his white irish skin. Too bad we all didn't have one of these... we're pretty sure the damage was already done from the walk.

Goofing off at la playa with Sam!

We had to find shade after a while as we could feel the burn. Literally.

Cool beachside bar/restaurant--super hip vibe.

Last looks at Coogee before heading back to the city. Daniel became our mom with the hat and bag.

My favorite photo :)
