Days 8 &9: Majestic Iguazu

There's not really much I can say about Iguazu Falls except WOW. If you are ever in the area (aka, Argentina or Brazil) you absolutely need to make the trip. Heck, you could make a trip just around Iguazu Falls, it is that incredible.

And I think we absolutely did the right thing by seeing Argentina's side first, then Brazil. On the Argentina side, you have the majority of the Falls and you can walk among most of the 1.7 miles full of 275+ waterfalls. The Brazil side gives you the perspective of how huge it really is and allows you to see it all from a breathtaking vantage point. But enough of the words... instead, I'll let the ridiculous amount of pictures we took speak for themselves. Although, even they can't do the falls complete justice.

A map of the area and our excitement is obvious! Our first waterfall and we were already snapping away. Little did we know that this was merely the beginning of the stunning natural wonder.

I mean, what is there even to say other than wow?

We also found wildlife! The exotic Coatie (or Quait in Portuguese) which is in the same family as the raccoon. Which you probably could have guessed since it was going through the trash.

And a bird! No idea what kind but it wanted to show off it's profile

Our trip wasn't without thoughtful couples who took 10 minutes to take their own photos. Exhibit A on the right. These were all taken at Devil's Throat, the biggest drop of the Falls, which you might can tell from all of the mist that kept showing up.

Argentina side means an Argentina flag! And we also had a laugh at how silly the ponchos made people look. Glad we through ahead and had rain jackets!

Naturally, we had a lunch of empanadas between seeing Devil's Throat and the lower trail.

Getting up close and personal with some of the falls.

We also broke the rules and walked down like we were taking a boat tour, but jokes on them! We didn't take a boat tour but we did get some more fabulous photos of the falls since we got a different perspective.

With views like this, you can't help but have fun.

The boat tours we decided not to do. And more views we got taking the walk down to the dock.

And then the wildlife attacked! JK, just a friendly butterfly that was attracted to my hat.

BUT MONKEYS! We finally found some! They were adorable and one of them kept hanging on the tree right in front of us and wouldn't stop staring at me--Mari can vouch for this haha.

My friend!

And then the next day it was time for the Brazilian side

Excited because we thought we knew what we were getting into, and yet, we were still blown away. The double decker bus was fun! This photo was only taken to show we were on the top deck. No other reason haha.

Our first view of the falls from Brazil.

It's really crazy what all you can find in nature.

And now we're back at Devil's Throat, but from a different perspective.

And we found a rainbow! So glad we procrastinated on leaving as we got to see a fabulous rainbow! So that meant all the same pictures but now with a rainbow!!! Rainbows make everything better. And Mari found a spider friend. He was huge. We actually did not like him.

RAINBOW.

And standing at the side of the falls, such a powerful rush of water right behind us.

My first taste of Guarana in two years! And then of course we had to play around in the gift shop. Pro tip: ignore the gift shops on the Argentina side, the Brazil is where it's at for souvenirs. As you can obviously see.

I even ended up buying an Iguazu sweatshirt because 1. it was cold, 2. it was awesome, and 3. now I can brag I've seen one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Picture of a picture of the Falls. Because why not?
